WHAT CAN YOU DO?
Responsible government is no accident. It takes
an aware citizenry to elect competent public officials.
You, the voter, can be a decisive influence
by being well informed on all the issues, and being
in frequent contact with those who have been
elected. Public servants, regardless of political
party, have to be reminded constantly that they
serve at the pleasure of their constituents.
“Watch dog” groups have to monitor elected officials’
activities to emphasize the need for government
responsibility to be efficient and keep the
public informed. We recognize the governmental
functions are not always efficiently run. But efforts
must be made to reduce (and ultimately eliminate)
waste, fraud, duplication and mismanagement.
